Pineapple Blossum Block
I am thinking about trying this. Is there anything special I need to know? I have never done it before.

Are you asking about the pineapple block? There's an "easy pineapple" block that doesn't require paper piecing. Not familiar with pineapple blossom though
|
It is different from the original pineapple block. I do not have a picture of my own to show, but will try to draw one up in my EQ5 tomorrow.

The link doesn’t work for me sadly

How odd it works now! The site must have been down earlier
|
That particular link looks like it's quite an easy block/quilt to do. Hmmm. Might have to keep that in mind for an upcoming project that I've just not been motivated to start yet.
|
That's really pretty! Doesn't look too hard to me.

I just finished a huge one this week. It is quite a simple block to assemble following Bonnie's instructions linked above.
I used browns and teals, using the 2.5" strips, followed by three borders, 1.5" squares, the extra cuts discarded from assembly of the blocks and another 1.5" border. One of the fastest quilts I've ever made, but I had all the inner cutting done before I started sewing. |
Oooooo so pretty!!!!!!!

This is what I managed to get in my EQ5 this morning. Also, yesterday, my sister gave me advice on doing the ends. I may give this a try in the next few days. I have seen some gorgeous ones online.

I had found an EQ looking version online and then drew it up in mine. Either version looks pretty to me. I just want to see if I can do it. I do not actually have a link. Sorry.

I also made one and loved it, easy to make.
A friend of mine made one in Christmas colors. |
Any of them would be very pretty. Colors change the looks of them.

I made this quilt with a group of friends. We put sashing between the blocks. It is easy and went quickly

Lovely quilts! This one is on my bucket-list.
|
Wow...these are so cool looking. I'm going to try this next using the scraps from my current quilt and some additional contrasting fabrics. Pics of quilts are really gorgeous.
|
Looks to me like you sew strips all around the center square, then snowball two corners. Add one more row of strips around the outside and snowball the same two corners. The rest is sashing and cornerstones.
Chester the Bunny has one without the sashing. Then each block is tipped a different direction. That produced the large square of background fabric. |
I used Bonnie Hunters pattern and it was quick and easy
|
Pretty block; it's been on my bucket list for some time.
|
Very similar to a christmas cactus block. I loved making mine long ago. Like someone said goes really fast.
|
Boston, what you created in EQ isn't actually the Pineapple blossom block. What you drew is the secondary pattern that forms when putting 4 Pineapple blossom blocks together. Which is easier to see in Chester's example. Try going to Bonnie Hunter's site for it. I think you will find the quilt much easier to assemble if you make her blocks.
Kalama your PB is gorgeous done in turquoise and browns. All that have posted made lovely quilts. Chester's done in homespuns and the neat variation in setting done by Pagzz. |
Oh gee....I was only wanting the middle section. I wonder if my sister could show me how to paper piece it.
I guess I'll have to name it something else as well. :) |
