For those of you who both hand and machine quilt and have a quilt frame for hand quilting.
I prefer to hand quilt but sometimes there just isn't enough time and I have to machine quilt.
I have such a hard time getting on the floor to pin a quilt for machine quilting. OK maybe not getting on the floor but getting back up. lol
I put my quilt into the frame as if to hand quilt and pinned and rolled and pinned, etc. Worked great.

That is good to know!!! I was thinking that I could extend my John Flynn frame to do the same thing :D:D:D

That is terrific! And the back came out all smooth? That was very smart thinking.

I have started machine quilting and so far so good with the back being smooth. It looks fine overall.
A real back saver.

Shucks! I just have a round quilt frame so maybe I should invest in one that I can put the quilt on and pin. Sounds like a great idea.

Joe the Quilter has a video out that shows how to make a quilt frame for about $20.

I used my Flynn frame for pinning my quilts til I found basting spay. Now I use that and like it better than pinning. I still have to get down on the floor, but it goes faster so I can pull myself up sooner.

I almost never use a frame and I don't use hoops when I do my hand quilting. I lap quilt, which means I quilt mostly in the winter when the weight of the quilt is laying on my lap. It's wonderful and keeps me nice and warm. Hubby likes the house at 68F (Brr!) and that's a tad too cold for me and quilting helps keep me warm.

hmmmmmm ... i shall have to consult my local longarmer. i wonder if she'd be willing to do that, too.
