My original sewing machine (Lamair Helvitia)bought for my 21st birthday by my mum, sewed over pins like they weren't there. I had that machine for over 30 years.
My original Janome bought in 2001 also sews over pins. But my 6600 doesn't like to at all so I remove them except at seams where I walk the needle across one stitch at a time.

If you pin from left to right ( fabric side toward your raw edge) you can safetly sew over pins, but not at mach 90 speed.. I rarely use pins anyway except for really LONG seams where there is a LOT of matching of points and other seams.....

I walk over them in seams or take them out. You can really harm your machine if you hit one, I have actually knocked my machine out of time by hitting a pin.

No, no, no. They can snap your needle. They point will go flying and might land anywhere... even in your eye!

I pull them out as I get to them. I used to sew over them until I broke the needle on one and it cost me $88 to get my machine repaired (wrecked timing). Could have been more. I've been taking them out ever since unless I absolutely can't.

usually no because I don't have them perfectly straight and the risk of snapping a needle or oin is greater. Recently broke a needle while sewing rather fast. I felt the tip if the needle strike the outer corner of my eye before flinging off again. Had the broken tip not stil been threaded the outcome may have been worse

I very seldom use them..I think they distort..but I wouldn't sew over them..even if it says u can !!
