Never, ever! It can ruin your machine!

I used to til I hit one and my machine jumped timing on my singer and my serger VERY VERY costly to have fixed!!!!!!

I take them out, but sometimes (not being careful) have broken my needle and bent the pin. Not worth the hassle. Rather spend a half second to remove them.

I used to sew over pins when making garments-years ago. Now I never sew over pins, because if you hit the pins they bend or the needle breaks.

Yup, I do. I use silk pins. I doubt more than 3 pins have ever gotten bent, and I've never broken a needle.

When I was taught to sew, we sewed over the needles, now some 45+ years later, I still sew over needles, I could probably count on one hand how many times my needle has broken because of this---maybe a couple. No biggie. Now I've sewn on machines from Singer 401, 221, 301, 27, and 15, my Brother 4000D, all act the same. I use regular quilting pins, not skinny ones, some with big yellow balls on top of 'em. No biggie with pins.

No, especially with a computerized machine, it really does not like hitting a pin. It tells me it is going to stop for my own safety.

mostly not, but when I use pins to hold interlocking seams together (4-patch, etc.) I use them. And just go slow over them.
