I pin my blocks that I stitch, I don't pin near the seam line as I fear breaking the needle (has happened before). I was wondering if anyone else sews with pins. If so what type of pins do you use. I have heard someone mentioning silk pins

I pull out the pins right before they get to the needle so that the needle does not break. I also have tried the glue stick instead of pinning and that works really well.. Good luck,

I have Dritz extra fine glass heads and I love them. They're thinner and shorter than the Clover glass heads. The clovers are just too darn long which makes them too flexible.

I also pin so that the tip of my pin is short of where the needle will fall.

I like fork pins but I don't sew over them. With the fork pins you can pin on each side of your seem and that seems to work well for me.

I use the yellow glass head thin pins for regular seams. I use the very fine silk pins if I want to pin a joint seam so that I can sew over the pin - I get perfect seams that way.

thank you all for your replies. I went to quilters warehouse and ordered the dritz that doghouse mom suggested.
Thank you all again and happy quilting
