Pinwheel in a block pattern by Janet Wickell
Years ago, I printed a free pattern of Janet Wickell's. She called it a Springtime Pinwheels Quilt. It seems I printed almost all of the instructions but not all of them.
Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peggy |
Welcome to the board, Peggy. I looked all over and couldn't find it. Hope someone else can.
Edit- I found this: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/quilt-patterns-beginners-to-experienced-quilters-4063128It The quilt is number 78. However, when you click on the link to the pattern it takes you to a how-to make paper pinwheels. Strange! |
The quilt states it is made of two blocks and they are set on point. I looked carefully at the quilt and the blocks are NOT set on point. It's a 5 x 7 block layout.

I am thinking either 8 or 12 inch finished. Could you tell us what size the quilt is when finished? |

Hi Peggy - Cute quilt. My guess is that the link originally went to an outside page that is now gone. The quilt as Barb said is made of two blocks. The Pinwheel Block is a square in a square in a square. The inner Square being the pinwheel. Here is a great resource for doing squares in a square.
http://quiltersparadiseesc.com/Calcu...Calculator.php The link to the quilt said the finished blocks were 8" - plugging that in to that calculator gives you 5 5/8 for the larger inside square as a finished size. Then if you plug 5 5/8" back into the calculator you get 4" for the center square (which is your pinwheel). A 4" finished pinwheel is made up from 4 - 2" finished Half Square Triangles The other block consists of 16 half square triangles which finish up at 2" each (2.5" raw edge to raw edge) |
Oh good! I hope you get what you need. I still can't figure out why that link sends you to paper pinwheels!
