I know I've seen a chart for pinwheel sizes but I can't find it anywhere. I'm working on 3.5" pinwheel squares. If I use the 1/4" seam around 2 squares method do I start with 5.25" squares?

If I use the 2nd method of placing 2 squares together, draw a diagonal, sew on both sides and divide, are my squares 4" to get a 3.5"pinwheel square?

So you want a 6" FINISHED Pinwheel block, right?

Each HST block would be 3" FINISHED.
Using Method2, you would start with two 3-7/8" squares of each color.
Actually, I prefer to start with 4.25" squares, make the HST blocks, and then trim down to 3.5" UNFINISHED.

I don't use your first method.

Here is a link to the chart for pinwheel sizes that I think you are talking about...

Thanks ladies! I have squares from another project that are 5 1/4" so they'll be too small for the 1st method. I guess I'm going with the 2nd method.
