PIQF - this could be dangerous!

Oh me oh my...I was just looking at the calendar and I realized I get paid the Friday before I head over to the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara - I will be attending on Saturday & Sunday.

Not only is Friday my payday, but I am paid bi-weekly so I get an "extra" paycheck in October. Oh dear. :D

I better bring an extra shopping bag! LOL

I love PIQF...the quilts are amazing and there is so much to look at! I don't usually actually do a lot of shopping there, I'm too busy drooling over quilts from all around the world. :)

Stuff those bags .....in a back pack! Easier to carry a heavy load on your back!:D

Even better - I have a hotel room across the road, I can just go drop things off and come back with empty bags for more! MUAAHAHAHAHAAA!

I'm really hoping to score a deal on some larger Bloc-Loc rulers this year. Last year they sold out before I even got there!

Sounds like a dangerous situation to me!

I agree. sounds like a very dangerous situation. Be sure to bring your digital camera with extra batteries to spare. Have fun.

I LOVE the PIQF! It is always on or around my birthday (Oct 16). Unfortunately, this year I can't go. I had surgery on an infection in my foot in July and it is FINALLY nearly closed, but I have not been able to walk on it since the surgery. I see the doctor again on Oct 14, and he told me to bring my shoes and my walker. I will have to use the walker for a week or so, then a walking stick or cane before I can "solo". A good friend of mine offered to push me around the PIQF in a wheelchair, which is so kind of her, but I said no. Maybe next year. Anyway, have a great time! Usually, after I have looked at all the quilts on display I am simultaneously inspired and discouraged. I want to go home and throw all my machines and such in the trash. I am not this caliber of quilter, but I get inspired to BE that kind of quilter. Enjoy the PIQF, get great deals and get inspired!

Oh--wish I was going to a big show now! Went this summer to the KCRegional Quilt Fest and just knew I'd buy more than my budget wanted. So I did take a "shopping list" and mostly (ok--that's an exaggeration some!) stuck to it. So many goodies that you just don't know even exist! I have a friend that is so strong willed that she leaves her credit cards at home and only spends the cash she brings--that is WILL POWER! Can't say I'm that strong.

My friend & I went to the Outdoor Quilt Show in Temecula CA this morning and she started laughing, and said every time she goes to buy anything for quilting/sewing she remembers when we were ready to buy bags of Pounce. They were being sold at the SD Quilt Show for $7.00 a piece or 2 for $11.00. We were standing in line to buy our treasure when I asked her, "Just when are we going to use this stuff?" Just as innocent as ever she said, "But it is on sale." Yea, and when we are ready to use this stuff is will be a couple of concrete blocks. We put then back. That was over 10 years ago and so far neither of us have made a quilt using stencils. :-)

Now my rule is, when I go to shows, never buy anything when I first start looking, go through all of the places, even if it is just a quick walk through and if I still want what-ever it was, I will go back. And then I think of how is it to be used and when. I am trying to stop the total impulse buying only to bring it home and never use it.

Hey Sewnoma! I couldn't make it this year. How was the show? It was fun meeting up with you last year.
