Placemats

I saw the neatest set of placemats that I’d like to make. I hope my description is clear.
Oval shape about 15” across. A variety of fabric strips encircled in an oval shape and zig zagged in place. Each strip was 3/4 inch showing on front and wrapped around to backside. So I’m thinking the fabric strips were 2” to begin with; including 1/4” turned under front & back. I’m assuming batting was a little under 3/4” strips. I can’t wrap my little mind around the method. Has anyone seen the directions ?

I'd have to see a picture. Sounds interesting I hope someone knows about the pattern.

I have made mini JR mats, as well as full sized rugs. I use the mini mat next to the microwave for hot stuff to land. Placemats are an excellent idea! Thanks!
BTW, I found that indoor/outdoor fabric is very durable, long lasting, and fade resistant for making rugs. I just cut the strips myself.

Since those fabrics are thick with a foldover then batting is not needed. ??

will try some remnants (at some point). Thanks for the hints.
