Planning an apple core quilt
The sizzix apple core die has arrived this morning (amazingly fast delivery as I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it was free delivery! Awesome!) so I want to get on with planning my quilt. I like to plan all my quilts with graph paper before I start so I have a picture in my mind. Getting hexagon graph paper was pretty easy using google but I am struggling to find an apple core layout that I can use to plan it. I have EQ5 but rarely use it as I prefer to draw things out by hand, do you think it would have an apple core layout? I find it very confusing to use but will give it a go if it's likely to have the layout!
Hope someone can help! |
Found this in my favorites.

i tried but couldn't find an apple core block in the eq library. i did find a really good youtube tutorial showing how to create one. it is not in english but if you turn the sound off and just follow along it shows every step on the screen.i hope this helps.
i have the go die and am an inexperienced eq user as well and think it will be a good project to try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8LqHTrLpNg |

If you are looking for hexagon quilt, you do the following
Select Quilt Select New Quilt One Patch Quilt. It is very primitive on EQ5 and so is the Bargello design. They have probably improved it on new versions/ My friend has bought from Paper Pieces and was very happy with how fast they shipped. |
If all you really need is a layout for color placement, you could use graph paper and use a 2x3 unit for each core. You would not get the shape, but you could get an idea of how the colors would look together.

I have played with my EQ5 many times have have never seen the apple core in there. You may have to get out pencil and paper.

Queen, what a great link! I looked through EQ5 and it doesn't have the apple core shape as far as I can see in it's one patch setting.
