I am having trouble matching the top color for quilting a quilt top and have a spool of Sulky (polyester) plastic thread.
Has anyone used this before? What experiances have you had?
I made a small swatch and put it in the dryer and seems to held up well. But, I am not sold on using this yet.

You're talking about invisible thread, right? The kind that looks like fishing line?

It will probably melt with the iron, so I wouldn't use it on something that will need to be ironed. And I hear you shouldn't use it on things for children.

If it's just a decorative piece, like a small wallhanging, go for it. You did a dryer test already and it passed.

nylon is better, it can be ironed, poly can take the dryer but i'm not sure about the iron

Where do I find the Nylon thread?

i have never seen any plastic thread, but the poly invisible threads are a bugger to work with, they stretch, break, tend to be (picky) like those tags in your shirt that have a thread poking out bugging you to no end...same stuff, like heavy fishing line. and it melts and breaks with time. the nylon invisible threads are a little easier to use, i have found i really hate going that route! you have to really slow down to keep the thread from stretching/breaking. a medium gray usually blends in well (smoke for darker fabrics, light gray for lighter fabrics) if you want to use the invisible threads loosen your tension just a little, use a good thread in the bobbin and take it slow...the faster your machine is going the more stretch/breakage you are going to deal with.
