The nationally known quilt teacher, Pepper Cory, says she sorts her fabric by Dark-Medium-Light.

HI, maybe you should divide your unwanted fabric in individual packs and let us know what you need for postage. That way everyone that is interested can get a bit of your fabric. I am a hoarder for fabric, but have sewn since I was a child! Then was a professional dressmaker for 40 years. I absolutely love to sew!!!
Have a blessed day!

I must agree! If you are a quilter, you are buying too much fabric-it just can't be helped. Do what I DON"T do-get busy and use up that fabric and you'll have less to sort!

Thats what I told my husband...I must not be sewing fast enough if I need 2 more full size bookshelves for storing more fabric. And that does not include the totes I have stuffed full of the "scraps" that are tagged for mini quilts. But I do have to say ` I was thinking the other day that I'm getting tired of looking at some of these pieces. HHmmm....

Susan Margaret,

Your posts always make me laugh. You need a 12-step plan or an intervention: you simply cannot sort your sewing room when you are supposed to be doing Christmas gifts. I know you haven't finished Christmas gifts because you said so on another thread. Too bad some of us quilters don't live close to you--we could (1) pitch in and get your room organized, (2) help you work on Christmas gifts, or (3) drag you to the local fabric store to help you forget about the mess at your house.

But I'm no better than you are; I'm going to Houston tomorrow. I need more quilting fabrics/equipment/gadgets like you need more calicos. The next time you hear, "Houston, we have a problem," it will be me trying to get out of the convention center with all those packages.
