Please help calculate amount of fabric needed.
Hello - I am pretty new to quilting. I am attempting to make a King sized quilt using the Blackford's Beauty Block. This is a 12 inch block made with 4 different colors. The pattern I have tells me what to cut out for 1 block. I need assistance in how to translate that into the entire purchase.
Example - Color number one - One block calls for a 4" x 16 " strip. I need 36 blocks. How do I translate that into yardage? That same color is going to be used for a 3" border. The quilt will be 110 by 110 so I think I need 3 1/2" x 442" also translated into yardage. I know it is math but just can't seem to get myself headed in the right direction. Thank-you!!! |
Wow - I think I figured it out. based everything on 1 yard and off I went. Now I am off to Lancaster PA to shop. :-)

Congrats. Please post when finished!

When it comes to determining how much fabric I need for a quilt, I love to use the book All-in-One Quilter's Reference Tool.
