Please help me!

Hi everyone,
I have holes in my customers quilt. I had to frog some of my piano keys and now I can't seem to get the holes that the needle left out of the fabric. This customer doesn't wash her quilts and she wants to show this one. I have tried getting it wet and rubbing my fingernail over the fabric and then letting it dry hoping that the fabric would shrink some and close the holes and it did with some of them but not the majority. Any ideas? Please?

Have you tried steam?

linda8450 04-19-2012 03:48 PM

Try a straight pin, and nudge the threads back to their home. I don't have fingernails that will stand up as tools, so this is the same idea, but the pin has more push, pull where needed. Linda

Thank you ladies. I tried the straight pin and the steam and the steam did the trick. Thank you so much. It's so good to have a resource like all of you to help in time of need.

Yep...there's no disaster that can't be fixed or worked around when presented to the QB members. Imagine how many years of experience you can draw upon. Glad your problem was sorted....you must have been worried sick - I know I would be.

Sweeterthanwine 04-19-2012 06:17 PM

The ladies on this QB are the smartest people I know.

GingerK 04-19-2012 06:24 PM

I second Sweeterthanwine's sentiment. Beauty, brains, generosity, ingenuity, resoursefulness....the list of the QuiltingBoard members' atributes just goes on and on!!

Quilters are awesome!

Wow, can you imagine how many years of experience are represented here even just by the small percentage of members who respond regularly on QB??!! My word!!

The piano (keys) is a type of border - and the frog as explained up above , she had to rip out the quilting stitches she made-so she had to rip out the stitches in the border area :) we quilters do make up creative ways to express ourselves LOL

I am pretty sure she means she had to take out (frog) some of the stitches on the piano key border that is on the quilt...here is a pic of one:
