I was busy with EQ while MTS was posting. Same result - I got one of the sashing strips turned the wrong way.

Drag out your graph paper. I'm guessing here, but the centers appear to be maybe 3" finished, the other strips 1" finished and the dark ones are 3" x 1" finished on two sides and 4" x 1" finished on the other two sides with 1" wide lights finishing out the length of each side.
Or 4.5" finished center with 1.5" finished x 4.5" finished and 1.5" finished x 6" finished darks. With lights to finish out.

yes, from what I can tell, it is a simple log cabin started with a large center, with a couple of light cornerstones added at the beginning, and you just build out from there. I'll bet you can easily draft this out on graph paper.

It's not a normal log cabin which has two sides light and two sides dark. This had 4 sides dark but always the same measurements (well, two sizes) all finished out with lights

GrannieAnnie, I need to put a disclaimer on that picture. It's actually just a pincushion sitting on some batik fabric. It was an entry for a little photo contest I participated in. but thank you anyway ;-)

I'd never had guessed. Would make a beautiful quilt. And you did a great job with that camera!

Is there anyway you can send the first image to me with the actual size? When I open it in photoshop it says its only 3" total. Thank you if you can!
