Happened to me but I had only ironed a very small area when I realized what I was doing! I took a 'vegetable brush' and was about to get it off my ironing board cover with no damage to it. Don't know how well it will work on a larger area......but what can it hurt? |
Someone gave a tip the other day that I had never heard of. Before using fusible, take large piece of freezer paper and iron on ironing board. You could do this till you finish your project and who knows some of it may stick to freezer paper when you pull it off. Good luck.

look on the bright side..you wont make that mistake again...I too have ironed bits to my ironing board but luckily they were only small bits and once I accidentally had it upside down and ironed it to my iron :oops:

Why not just fuse some pretty fabric over the sticky spot? so what if you have a pretty swatch of fabric on your board!

I have also done this a few times. The last time, I turned up the iron to cotton, put an old cotton teatowel over the sticky area and ironed. I did this probably 4-5 times, just using a different section of teatowel, and all the sticky stuff was gone.

Okay:( So I made the same mistake of ironing heat bond without protecting my ironing board. I took Twilliebee"s advice and tried GooGone. Worked like a charm. Squirted the stuff on and let it sit for about 5 minutes then scraped the goo off. Didn't even have to work at it. Luck? Maybe, but I'd recommend trying it. Thank you very much Twilliebee:)

you could always heat and bond an applique over it to keep your iron clean.

Ive also stuck it to my pressing cloth. And my iron. I'm apparently a slow learner. 😜 |
