Does anyone know if this site is a secured site? I can't find anywhere on their site saying it is, and I want to order EQ5 with a credit card.

I even contacted them about it but haven't gotten an answer.

I wouldn't risk it. Why not get it from Jo-Ann's online at the sale price of 89.99? I know they are a secure site. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.j...&source=search and there's free shipping on it to boot!

oh, nor'easter - you're a terrible enabler! i had said i was going to wait to get this, but now it's even $30 cheaper than previously . . .

what to do, what to do . . .

fabricluvr 07-22-2008 10:44 AM

i've ordered from joann.com many times and have never had a problem. i'm still pondering getting the software now . . .

nor'easter 07-22-2008 10:49 AM

Loretta, just remember not to use a cell phone or a cordless home phone to relay your credit card info. Transmissions from either can be intercepted by scanners without your knowledge and are far less secure than a certified website.

fabricluvr, that's as low as I've seen it. I'd be really tempted, but it won't work on my Vista system. Too bad you can't use a JoAnn's coupon on EQ stuff, they exclude it! I say go for it!! Hey, Christmas in July, right?

Wow, glad I mentioned it. Here's what they say: "Requires: Windows 98/2000/NT 4.0/ME/XP, CD-ROM, Internet Explorer 5 or higher,32 MB RAM suggested" EQ6 works on XP and Vista and I'm watching for deals on that, but it's too new at the moment. Shall I let you know if I find something enticing?

ok, just got off the phone with Electric Quilt (they are just 'up the street' in Bowling Green, Ohio).

she said that yes, EQ5 will work with Vista (and with the Service Pack 1). When you install, you need to select 'installation 2' (you have two choices when you install and for Vista OS you choose the second one).

should be interesting! here I go, off to order it!

Thanks all of you enablers!

YAY!! Now to wait for my commission check. (JUST KIDDING, Admin!!) Have a great time and let us know how you like it, 'kay? Now, whatever happened to sewnsewer2??? :?:

Moonpi 07-22-2008 11:39 AM

I did not find it secure until I got to the page headed by Order: Select Shipping and Credit Card Type

At that point, the website address was https (secure) and the lock displayed on the bottom right of screen.

If you have any doubts, call or email the company first. I generally use PayPal when buying online. My bank also offers prepaid cards if you are only using a number for a single purchase- you buy card in that amount.

Oh thank you all sooooo much for the info! :D

I have XP. Off to order it. :D

Just check the bottom of the web site page that is asking for financial and personal info. If there is a little yellow padlock icon then the site is secure.

I try and only use Paypal for any online purchases.. hopefully that will help.

found a great site... http://quiltbus.com/

I love the notions.. had thangles for crisp triangle squares in various sizes, jell thimbles and quilt patis for crisp hexigon "grandmothers flower garden quilt" shape not paper piecing, but these you keep fabric around until all sides are attached, pop out and then resuable flexible foundations. Super aids for older quilters, I have parkinson's and can quilt again !! so, not a reason to name these items other than they have given me an old world of quilting again !!
Good luck !
Ellen
