after this quilt I'm working on I'm done matching seams for a while. I'm hating it! I thought maybe I could find some new patterns (free or not free-either is fine) where there are few or no seams to match up. I know about the jelly roll race. Any other good ones?

Lucky stars quilt pattern is pretty good. The stars dont have to be perfect and after you sew the sashing on you don't have to match seams except where the rows go together.

I'm currently working on a quilt called Modern Dreams. It's from QUILT magazine, but probably from two years ago. It made with big 6 1/2 x 13 inch blocks. Very easy and no matching. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send you the instructions.

Crossroads blocks are fast and fun to make, you can find a tutorial for them here in 3 different sizes. I am making them in the 12" finished size for a monthly rainbow scrap challenge and love them. Only one seam to match per block! Here is a pick of my orange blocks for March.

Disappearing Nine Patch doesn't require matching seems if you don't lay it out like sashing. I did a pinwheel a month ago. After that I felt the same way about not wanting seams! :)

I like Eleanor Burns' quick trip around the world. All the seams are offset. And it really is fast.

I"ve done this one - it's at the longarm quilter's now (after resting in ufo-land for several years). I don't remember making the individual blocks but seems like there are squares sewn onto rectangles and flipped and sewn together - alternating with bigger blocks - then you sew the rows vertically and when you sew the vertical rows they don't meet at the same corners. I did have to trim a smidge off a couple of rows once joined to make it even but it's so scrappy no big deal. I used coordinating fabrics and fussy cut the bigger squares but plan to do this one again one of these days with scraps

I also searched online several years ago and did a lap size lasagna quilt - I think I cut 3 1/2 inch strips and sewed different lengths together and cut off and kept on til I had the length I wanted them went around the sides about 3 times and quilted. I think it's pretty cool and nothing had to match up - it actually looks similar to the jelly roll race quilt but I didnt' sew it that way - had shorter sections.

I like the Wickedly Easy quilt, go to www.byannie.com and click on "Free Patterns" and scroll down. I used it to teach three of my co-workers. It's a very forgiving pattern.

Also, Jenny Doan has a youtube totorial one on that you do with 10" squares, but I can't remember the name of it. Cut the squares into two 5" rectangles, then sew them back together, then turn them 1/4 turn and cut at 4", so you have a 4" and 6" rectangle, then sew them back together.

Eleanor Burns Trip around the world and what I call bricks or brick laying are two patterns that have no intersecting seams. They are very simple patterns and so much can be done with these patterns.
