What exactly are podcasts? Do you listen to them on your computer or what? I have never heard of them before. Any help would really help. Thanks.

lfstamper 07-04-2012 10:06 AM

A whole new area for me too! Can't wait to try it.

Maggie_Sue 07-04-2012 03:19 PM

azure68 07-04-2012 11:08 PM

NONNIE88 12-30-2013 07:11 PM

SORRY it has taken me so long to respond.....

POD-CASTS are just quilters talking about what they are up to... kind of modern radio quilt show about quilting...

You can download to your computer and listen from there or load to a MP3 player

I had provided the links to direct downloads and blogs ...
find the icon for the podcast

right click on the icon ... save it into a folder in your music folder in the library

select ... SAVE TO TARGET or SAVE TO LINK .... ( YOUR BROWSER will use one or the other )

Once loaded to your folder ... right click on the file and you can them play in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYERS
then enjoy

HOPE this helps

Oh, I hope it is not a radio version of blogs.........I,I,I,me,me,me! I like to listen to talk radio on the AM dial only if informative...which seem to be less and less....will try the podcast and "see" what I hear.....

IrishgalfromNJ 02-19-2016 04:44 AM

Just found new podcast by Mary and Marianne Fons called Quilt Your Heart Out. Link here: http://quiltyourheartout.com/

Quilty-Louise 02-19-2016 05:16 AM

There is also Alex Anderson podcasts.

Geri B 02-19-2016 06:03 AM

Ok, I never did look into these podcasts......to those who have, what do you think of them? I really can't understand what can be learned from them....tell those of us who have not!

Sewnoma 02-19-2016 07:00 AM

I never thought about quilting podcasts. I'll have to take a look (listen). I tend to prefer to read than to listen, but I can't really read while I'm in the car or in the shower. (I've tried the latter, didn't work out too well)

Onebyone 02-19-2016 08:16 AM

All the quilt ones I have listened to rehash 'how to' or promote a guest's new quilt book or pattern and worse promote the host themselves. I haven't listened to the newer ones.

dreamer2009 02-19-2016 08:52 AM

NONNIE-Qdms
this is a great list.
I didn't even know this was an option.

Doggramma 02-19-2016 03:44 PM

I still listen to Pam out in podcast land. Her podcast is Hip to Be A Square. She's quite prolific with her quiltmaking. It's interesting to hear what she's working on, sonetimes she has a recipe or a book review, and usually has some other interesting tidbits. Several other ones like Alex Anderson's and Within A Quarter Inch haven't had any new podcasts in a long time.

luvstoquilt301 02-20-2016 05:37 AM

I love podcasts and listen to them while piecing. Sometimes I learn about a new product, an easier way to do something, etc. I could never sew while watching TV or a program on the computer.

I also listen to Dave Ramsey and have learned so much about handling money. I wish he was around when I was much younger. I would have been more knowledgeable about investing and other financial matters.

quiltin-nannie 02-20-2016 08:18 AM

Thanks so much for all the links!
