On point?

Browsing through my list of quilting blogs this morning I saw two mentions of "on point" quilting layout. I have no idea what this means but I'll bet some of you do! Can someone explain?

THe blocks are turned so they look like a diamond rather than a square. Therefore, on point.

Just gives a quilt a different look and more time to put it together. I have done both ways, on point and the regular way.
