Polar fleece bed sheet for backing

Has anyone used the polar fleece bed sheet for quilt backing?qvc has sets on clearance and I was thinking of using it for a special Christmas present. Will it stretch too much? Says it won't pill but will it? Any advice please? Thank you!

Yes I have used them before. Don't know about pilling, it was on a charity quilt. It does stretch a little, but not to much. Just don't pull it to much. Also make sure you have a new sharp needle, the thread kept breaking until I changed the needle. If I had a bigger needle I would have put that on. If I can find the picture I will post. After it was washed turned out really nice. Also I didn't use batting, I thought it would be to heavy.
Good Luck

I have been using minkie on the backs and that is pretty stretchy with no problems. I just got an order for fleece blankets from Blair and plan to use those for backs but haven't yet.

Yes, I've used them often. Especially on baby quilts. (There is a picture of one on the thread, "Looking for help to make baby quilts for the NICU, neo-natal intensive care unit" on post #133. It is the one with the mommy and baby pals and yellow boarder. You cant see the backing, but I did FMQ and you can see there was no problems. For babies there is no slippage, and it is similar to baby wraps that they love. I had no issues with FMQ. I did spray baste and thought that was important with this backing. If the flannel is a good price, I say go for it.

I have used polar fleece yardage, didn't know you could buy sheets(sounds so cozy). I like to put it on the back of lap quilts so they don't slide

I made a full bed sized quilt last Dec. and used med. wt. fleece on the back. My first time using it and I was leery of it stretching and being a mess, but there was none of that and it was the neatest and easiest quilt back ever. I did motif quilting on each block and I think the fleece back looked better than the cotton fronts.

I ordered a set and when it gets here I think I'll take the pillow slip apart and make a lap quilt to learn! Then do the big one. Thanks everyone!
