Poly/cotton blends, do they work well in quilt?

I purchased a huge bag of fabric at a garage sale for $20. I had to drag the bag(too heavy to carry). There is a lot of 100% cotton fabrics. There is also a large amount of poly cotton blends in solid colors.
I am new too quilting. Will the ploy/cotton blends work well in a quilt? Is it ok to mix with 100% cottons?
Thanks for any advise you can give me.

I have used poly/cotton blends, and have not noticed a problem with them. I believe you can mix them, but you need to make sure that your cotton ones are preshrunk, as they do not shrink the same. I just automatically prewash everything, because I never know if I am going to use if for a quilt or an outfit for one of my granddaughters. Sometimes, I will take the leftovers from little dresses and stuff, so I just preshrink everything.

I have made a lot of clothing, but new to quilting. I always prewash fabric when first get, so I will give it a try.

If you look at old quilts with mixed cotton and poly, you will see that the poly doesn't fade while the cotton does. Blends can have unpredictable results, with some fading more than others. I wouldn't mix the fabrics in a quilt that was meant to be an heirloom, but for everyday quilts it shouldn't be a problem, as long as you're aware that the fabrics will fade differently.

and be careful with the iron because the blends sometime shrink in the heat.

lucky you to get such a great deal. holice is right about being careful with a hot iron. i've melted more than my share of poly :)

You can mix these fabrics or just use the poly cotton itself. We did not always have such a great collection of cotton. I often buy and use this because I can find it on sale more often
