polyester batting - do you glue baste?

For those that use polyester batting...do you glue baste?

I have to admit I have been pin basting. I'm not certain if glue basting with Elmer's school glue would work well with that type of batting since it's so...."fluffy".

How do you baste your polyester batting quilts?

I have just glue basted a poly batting...no problem with holding for me. After it dried, I did safety pin around outer edges to keep it from pulling apart...not sure if it would anyway...this is a 75 inch square quilt. The center is now quilted and have 3 3 inch borders yet to quilt and have been tossing the quilt from table to chair for the past couple of days as I mull over what stitches to use on the borders. Nothing's come apart. Good luck....I love glue basting...

I did elmers with soft and bright batting from the warm company, it's 100% poly, I did it in a baby blanket and it worked out fine.

I did not like the movement in the poly batting after glue basting.

I don't glue baste, so I can't say for sure. But I would like to point out that there are lots of different types of poly batting. Some are very dense and others very fluffy. Your success might depend on which type of poly you have. I'm *guessing* that the fluffy ones would be harder to glue baste.

Never heard of using Elmer's! I have used spray glue, but unless I'm doing quilt as you go, I just pin well with long flat-headed pins.

I have used the Elmers Glue with High Loft Poly Batting and it worked very well for me.

I pin the edges as oksewglad does. You put a lot of pressure on those edges as you are quilting the center, so they need extra help. It works well for me. I have even put the binding on before the center was quilted. Worked great.

I am a hoopless hand quilter, never had the need for extra pins.
