I'm making a new ironing board from an old table I have. I've noticed in the postings re same say to use cotton batting. Can I use polyester batting? If not, why not?

I appreciate your help

It melts, and I'm pretty sure the fumes are toxic...

Yup, it does melt   I did a little test using polyester and cotton/bamboo ('cause that's all I had) - I put the pieces between two pieces of scrap canvas and set the iron to Linen and let it sit for about 1 minute

The poly made a stinking mess
and the cotton/bamboo - no problem at all

I guess I should have done that first.

Anyway, thank you ladies  :-P
