Poodle Pattern?

Howdy y'all,

Well...time is winding down, and I still need to make one more gift for one of the gals in my quilting group. I've made small wall hangings from 12" blocks for everyone, featuring their particular interests. One is getting a horse, one a cat, one an RV, etc. All are simple applique projects, but for the last gal I'm trying to find an applique poodle. I have searched coloring book pages online, and have spent a lot of time in department stores looking through their coloring books....just trying to find ONE picture of a poodle that doesn't look feminine with bows, long eyelashes, slender physic, classic poodle haircuts, and/or any other number of feminine qualities. I'm looking for cartoonish without a feminine flair. I don't have a lot of time left, and I'm finding NOTHING! Please help?!?

why not check the poodle out in the fabric dept at Wal mart or such dept. Even if you didn't find exactly you could use it as a guide.
I used one from there when I made my poodle skirt..

Try searching google images with "poodle graphic" as your search. Edited to add just about every image you find will have the classic poodle cut as that is iconic to the breed. A poodle without the poodle cut just looks like a shaggy dog.

Below is a link to the Poodle Club of America - Judges Education Illustrated Standard.

You will find good images of Poodles in all of the acceptable clips for both males and females.

I think the image of the Poodle in a side gait is a wonderful image that is classic and unmistakably a Poodle. It doesn't look silly, it looks sporting ... which in fact it is. Did you know that there are lots of Poodles with hunting titles?? Yup!!

The sporting clip isn't overly fussy and is iconic for non-show dogs.

Unfortunately I didn't keep a copy of this little fellow but I found it on free coloring pages some place & added his hat, when I made this little mug rug for a friend who has a poodle named Beau.

I just googled this and found the hat was already on him! I glued googly eyes on him. http://www.familyfuncartoons.com/ima...g-pages-55.jpg

Thimblebug, your poodle mug rug is wonderful.

You need to check out the book "Beautiful Big Dogs" , there is a great poodle in that. I am currently working on that quilt now. There is a great poodle to appliqué .

That's an adorable image and you did a really good job on the mug rug. Very cute!

I bought a poodle applique at JoAnn's a few years ago. I used it on a poodle skirt for my DGD.

Go to Fat Cat website and in free appliques, she has a very nice poodle applique. I've used it several times for purses and it is life like. She has a lot of very nice free applique patterns.

Go to http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/ You will need to set up an account but it is FREE. They have a great Poodle pattern under the Free Patterns.

Several years ago I bought the Dazzling Dogs applique patterns by Amy Bradley designs. They are machine appliqued, easy to make and cute as can be. I made the poodle, only turned it into a male with a bow tie, the Chihuahua, the Schnauzer and the Yorkie--all easy. You might check www.amybradleydesigns.com and see if they are still available through her store. If not, you could probably Google Dazzling Dogs and find someone who will be willing to sell you the original pattern. froggyintexas

My friend has a hunting poodle. Gracie the standard poodle, is very good at it too.

I think I saw some applique at Wal-Mart or JoAnn's not long ago. It was pink, but it's got the poodle shape! Good Luck. At one time I had a pattern for a poodle skirt -- don't remember if there were any drawings in the pattern or not! If I can find it, I'll see what I can do!
