No, I haven't taken pictures, but I sure wish I had.

Since I am a scrapbooker and a fairly new quilter, I started a scrapbook of the quilts I have made. I include a photo of the quilt; pieces of the fabric; photo of me with the recipient of the quilt, when possible; name, date, etc., of the quilt; and my thoughts when I made that quilt for the person. I also have included other photos, thank you notes, etc., so far I have 20+ quilts in my 8x8 in. scrapbook. I also put labels on my quilts because I have family quilts that I know are made by my mother-in-law, my grandmother, and my great grandmother, but we have no idea when they were made. One day before he died, my dad got out one of the quilts his mother had made and told me that this square was from Rick's shirt (his brother), this one was from his shirt, his mama had made an apron out of this fabric ... precious memories.

I try to take photos of all my quilts, scraps of fabrics, where I bought fabric, who the quilt goes to and if there's a story behind it, when I started & finished it, hand or machine pieced, hand or machine quilted or tied, and any other pertinent info. I also try to do this with some of my home dec. projects or grandchildren's clothing I've made.

BonniFeltz 07-05-2010 10:06 AM

I have just started to keep track of photos of my sewing projects. I also need to get better about putting in where I found some favorite fabric and what line it was, etc. It's a work in progress but it has already come in handy. I also use it for upcoming projects. I can see that I need bigger album pages. I try to take pix and keep them on my computer but have lost stuff due to hard drive crashes, etc.

So far, no, but it is something I want to do. I am always after my mother and friends to take pictures of their work. Think I would follow my own advice???? LOL

Ditter43 07-05-2010 10:31 AM

I do now. Unfortunately I let a lot of them go over the years without pictures. Now with the digital camera and computer it's much easier to do! :-D

For those of you that keep pictures on your flash drives, please back them up onto a CD. Those flash drives will lose anything stored on them without notice. An IT friend of mine told me that. Better to be safe.

Suzanne

Wanted to say that Yes, I do keep pictures of my quilts. I don't have many since I'm a beginner.

Homespun 07-05-2010 05:01 PM

I keep pictures of my quilts and have my most recent ones in an album on Facebook. And I always label my quilts.

littlehud 07-05-2010 08:19 PM
