I'm curious as to how you position your sewing machine when you FMQ. Do you keep it in the same position as when you are piecing blocks, or do you turn the machine perpendicular like a long arm machine or as John Flynn has you set the machine for his equipment? If you have a preference please let me know.

I position it different ways according to what ever is more comfortable at the time LOL Mostly I sit at the machine like I do when I am piecing. This seems to be the way that most FMQ feet are set up for.

I put my machine on dining table and position it like I normally sew, sit on a stool and quilt away.

My machine sits inside my table and flush with it. So do not move it. I have a Flynn but dont use it, did not like it. Lots of people do but I found it hard to set up and the rollers fall off the table. And you need as much room as a long arm for large quilts.

Sitting normally as you would piece, is what I've done in the past. But it then I thought maybe it would be easier going left to right rather than top to bottom on bigger quilts.

Mine stays the same way. I just can't get the knack of using it when it is turned.
