In themselves grease spots probably won't make the bags more likely to catch fire ( oils & grease don't absorb microwaves well). But, if ignition starts, the grease can act as a fuel and increase the fire.

I have the pattern also and i don't have that Tater batting,i see i won't be making them in the near future.I might e mail Marge where i bought the pattern and tell her about the fires.

I bought one also, and it caught fire. I think just putting them in the micro is simple enough. What if you were doing several at a time.

Just had to jump in here! I got the idea from a customer in Wisconsin and another in Arizona, and now I make them for charity craft fairs by the dozens in NY and my friend does the same in Delaware! They're easy as pie...takes about 15 minutes or less with cutting, ironing, and sewing.

It's the vehicle for putting potatoes in the microwave, and the potatoes come out fluffy and the skin is not like leather. The potatoes taste as if they were in the oven for an hour, but they are in your microwave for 5 minutes. Here's some pictures of finished ones, and then one in process. They take two pieces of fabric 11" x 22", so the cost is minimal. The batting is another story. DEFINITELY only use 100 percent cotton thread and NEVER any fabric with metallic to it. If anyone wants written out instructions, just PM me.
