Potholder Advice

I tried to do a search, but it is not as easy to find what I need on the new layout than it was before so I will just ask instead.

I am making some pot holders... I have cotton fabric and the insulbright batting, but what I didn't think about was the thread. Is polyester thread ok to use on these? I have some cotton covered polyester thread if that is better. I really want to make these today but will not be able to go to these store. Thanks in advance for all of your help :)

Two things to think about when doing potholders. Use cotton thread and don't quilt in the middle..as this leaves holes for the heat to come through. Ask me learned from experience. the poly thread will melt when gets too hot.

I use cotton thread on my cotton fabric pot holders, but am not sure about the cotton covered polyester thread. Maybe someone here has used it, and can advise you. I think I have read something about this on this forum, so maybe you could search and see.
