Hi All,

I am from Ireland and when I first arrived in America I seen these beautiful Quilted stockings in Pottery Barn and now that I am a longarm machine quilter (beginner) I would love to learn how to make one just like the quilted ones they sell in Pottery Barn.

Does anyone have a good pattern I can follow for a Christmas Stocking???

Much much appreciated if you do!

Check tutorials/search on this site. Welcome from Texas. I was born in Ireland (Armagh, many years ago) and just spent 3 weeks traveling our beautiful green country.

Welcome. Christmas socks are easy. I'm sure you can find a pattern online. Use any applicate pattern for embellishment.

Hope you find something of interest.

Welcome from Florida! Where in Ireland are you from? I've had the pleasure of visiting Ireland twice, and hope to go back someday. Good luck with the stockings. Be sure and post a photo for us!

The easiest and best Christmas stocking pattern I have ever found is in Eleanor Burns' book, "Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch."

Just got notice from Quilt-in-a-Day website that they are having a sale as are their sister website, www.EleanorBurns.com, and on that website is a free pattern for a Christmas stocking. Check them both out. It looks simple.

Here is a link to the Eleanor Burns stocking...so easy to make, I am not sure what the Pottery Barn stockings look like but this pattern can be adapted to most anything. I took a lot of white, and white on white, silver on white and other white fabric variations and made the strip version with the red and green flower it was wow. I also have used it with vintage velvets and satins and embellished the top with bits of embroidery or lace, also wow. Have some fun....oh yes and it is great to use with old ties....www.quiltinaday.com/freepattern

Wow! thank you sooooooo much for all your replies and lovely welcomes. I don't get to log on much as I am a young mammy of 4 young babies so they are keeping me real busy. I am hoping to learn as much as I can while I am here. I will be returning to Ireland in April.
