Hi there,

This is my first time on this site, so hopefully, I'm doing this alright. I am searching for a pattern for Prairie Curtains. I found this type of curtain in one of my cousin Vickie's quilting magazines. I forgot to take the magazine that showed these curtains so that I could order a pattern but my counsin did some rearranging, and can not find the magazine. Anyway, I did find the type of curtain that I was looking for at www.redplaidprimitives.com, but they only sell the curtain, not the pattern. It looks like it would be very simple to make. I've already bought my material (batik) for my kitchen windows - but now I need the pattern to be able to make them.

I have been looking on-line for free patterns and I'm not having much luck! Does anyone know of a specific website, library book, or anything that could show me the pattern. As I am unemployed, money is tight, but I will pay for the pattern, but I need to know where I could get the pattern from.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Try checking the pattern books at JoAnn's (home decor section) and maybe books from the library on how to make curtains. They don't look too difficult to adapt from a basic curtain pattern.

I would recommend that you also sign up on www.patternreview.com (you can do it for free) Good luck finding the pattern.

I'm sorry I do not have helpful information but would like to say "Welcome from Arkansas!"

Hi and welcome from Las Vegas, NV!
Sorry, I have no info for the curtains.
I see you are in Merrill, WI. I went to junior high in Merrill, my brother was born there! I still have family in the Wausau area.

Thanks, I have checked out JoAnn Fabrics pattern books to no avail. I will try the library - good idea.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the website. Hopefully, I will be able to find it there or at the library (a suggestion from Prism99).

It sounds like a fun pattern. I'll be interested in whether it can be found.

I do hope someone here will be able to find it for you :)
I don't get too many magazines and it doesn't sound familiar to me. There are some great people here and someone is bound to remember it!

Actually this is not about the curtain. I love the rooster in your tag!! linda

I, too, am looking for a pattern for a Prairie curtain but after an exhausting search, nothing has been found. I've resorted to ordering a set of curtains to see if I can then figure it out!

I'm not near my books currently but if you PM me I'll be happy to look and send you the directions I have. I made these with my SIL a few years ago. They are not difficult at all. No pattern needed, just your window measurements.

Hi Grandma6x - I just sent you a PM with info I hope you'll find helpful. Let me know if you need anything else.

By any chance, was the magazine Country Sampler? They show a lot of different curtains. Allfreecrafts .com has a tut to make simple curtains with valance. I'm not quite sure what you are looking for.

Christine George 01-17-2012 02:12 PM

Welcome from Milwaukee. Are you making a swag? straight valance? What were you thinking?

BMP 01-17-2012 04:32 PM

I am curious, what are prairie curtains ???
