Prairie Pointer

I saw a tut on making a dresden plate block and she was using the prairie pointer to make those wonderful points on the blades. Well, I started my first dresden plate block today. That prairie pointer is the best! Since it's metal, you can iron right over it. Check it out. Of course, I'm probably preaching to the choir here and you all already know about this neat tool.

I use a metal nail file. This was a tip from a Blackbird Designs pattern and works perfectly as you can iron over it too.

I have a few tools that work for me. Hepa, wooden pointer for corners, crochet hooks, etc. New tools are fun though.

I suggest you use Jenny Doan method it is much easier.

I have just recently purchased the Prairie Pointer because I think it is a good investment. I thought it would also help with cathedral windows. I am looking forward to using it.

I started with a 50" Dresden as my first Dresden, and had no idea how to center the points, so I just pressed the top seam and part way down the crease that was made, and then used the crease to help me center the points. Getting rid of my "volcano" was much more difficult, but I did it and learned a lot from the process.

The tutorial I saw the Prairie Pointer was from Shabby Fabrics. Jennifer always has fabulous ideas and the most incredibly detailed tutorials on the Planet! Shabby Fabrics is seriously my absolute favorite quilt shop! JMHO

That's the tutorial I saw too. I've had to put them on my favorites list. Good stuff coming from them.
