So many ideas. Looks like I will befiguring it out as I go. I have several hundred 4 1/2 squares already cut and are ready to press. I should be able to start it in the next day or so.

Couldn't you fold a few of those squares into Prairie Points and interlock them the way you will on the quilt to see how many you need in a 5 inch length or a 10 inch length? Then from that you can estimate how many you will need for the perimeter of your quilt. But again, you have to know what the expected size of the quilt is, not just "full" size.
