Pre-cut hexagon batting?

Is there a place that sells batting pre-cut for hexagons? Just wondered.

You mean batting cut into hexagon shapes? I've never seen any. What are you trying to do with it? You've got me quite curious.
I wonder if using a system like Accuquilt or Sizzix would work on batting....

well, I intended to be lazy. I was thinking of making some more hexagons, individually and then putting them together. I made a whole quilt that way. hex fabric and batting laid onto larger backing piece and the edges folded over and over again and stitched. easy t.v. room work. I guess when I'm ready, I will have to cut some batting up.

Oh, wow, I love that!

i haven't seen it. i use 3/4 and 1 inch sizes. for the bigger ones, i guess you're better off cutting them. good luck. your quilt is beautiful!

while i was making mine with florals and greens on the backs, a friend in England was making hers with black backs. Looked so much more pretty than mine so i will use black next time. and maybe larger hexagons too.

Your quilt is beautiful - love the colors and I am in love with hexagons!

What size are your hexagons?

carolynjo 04-08-2017 07:21 AM

That is a lovely quilt; never thought to use hexagons like that.

red-warrior 04-08-2017 07:46 AM

One of the nicest hexie quilts I have seen!

nativetexan 04-08-2017 07:46 AM

Oh that was years ago, five or six inch maybe.

Bluebonnets 04-08-2017 07:54 AM

How pretty! Great idea too.

Your quilt would be really easy to complete using the "potholder quilt" method. Make all the small quilts, then sew together using the ladder stitch.

Missiouri Star Quilt has the 2 1/2" precut batting for hexagons

juliasb 05-25-2021 08:18 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. You may want to inquire if some one with the proper hexagon size with an Accuquilt can cut some for you. I am sure someone out here can help you with this.

This is like what I would like to make--just wondering where to find the 2 piece template.

toverly 05-26-2021 04:31 PM

Missouri Star has the template, it's called the 2 1/2" hexagon quilt as you go. These quilts are addictive. I've made two with one more cut out. It looks great with different fabrics on the back, it makes an entirely different back quilt.

Missouri Star did sell precut batting to go with the template set they sell.

That's so funny, several friends at Bee were just talking about that. I use the scrap strip of batting that is left over from trimming a quilt. So it's useful for me to cut my own.

I cut hex shape batting with my Go hexagon dies. I can cut a tall stack in minutes.

SharonPye 05-28-2021 09:40 AM

I bought some from Missouri Star that fits their two-piece hexagon set. I don't remember how many in a pack or cost but I thought it would be better than cutting umpty dozen hexies!
