Pre-cuts - Footballs!

I had never heard of them until stopped at a shop in Sayville NY yesterday and there were baskets of 6 1/2" strips rolled into triangles called footballs. The shop manager told me that a lot of times they can't get 1/4 yard out of the bolt and this is a neat way to use bolt ends. Great for applique, for sure, or anything scrappy (like my BH mystery project :) )

Are they common in other areas of the country? I haven't seen them at my local LQS north of Boston.

It sounds like something this one particular shop came up with. I've never seen it.

I've never seen them around here or any of the places we/ve traveled to lately.

Me too.

We were on a quick trip just one night to check in on my husband's brother and sister-in-law and their family. Not one of the fun trips where you dawdle along the North Fork stopping in farm stores and wineries and enjoying the scenery.

It would have been so much fun to get together and visit your favorite LQS and talk quilts!

Next time I get down there I will be sure to give you a shout, hope we can meet
Happy holiday
Sue

Never heard about them in So CA either. Smart way to package end of bolt fabric. There are 6" strips sold in collections by Timeless Treasure.

Do you have a picture?

I dont have a photo but imagine a 6 1/2" WOF strip somehow folded up into a triangle - looks more like a mini turnover! About 3-4" on the long side. Does not look a bit like a football

I've bought 6 1/2" x WOF "design strips" from Craftsy, but haven't ever heard of this "football" thing.
