What is your prefered lubricant for your vintage machines? Does anyone use a silicone lubricant? DH suggested the silicone but I told him I don't know about that.

whatever is recommended for your machine. i would suggest contacting a shop that repairs vintage machines and ask. It has been my opinion that sewing machines are "finniky" about oil that goes into their parts.

For oil, either sewing machine oil or TriFlow oil

For lubricant, either sewing machine lubricant (Singer brand is available on the notions wall of JoAnn's) or TriFlow lubricant.

Silicone lubricant is not good for sewing machines. Here is a link to wonderful information someone else posted a few days ago:

Basic sewing machine oil from my LQS for oiling the needed parts and Singer lubricant in a tube for the motor.

How do you use the lubricant for the motor?

I have three different makes of machines. Each manufacturer is different.I would read your manual. One of my machine needs a tube filled with lubricant every six month. Another machine, don't lube motor. Done at the factory and is not needed. Manual should have all the info.
