Premium Muslin

It has been quite a while since I have purchased muslin, but I now need some for Dresden Plate background squares, and don't know what brand is best, or where to buy it. I think I have seen pros and cons here about JoAnn's muslin, but am not sure. I bought my last muslin at a quilt shop years ago, but am wondering if the other stores have a nice grade muslin. Input anyone? Thanks

I bought mine at Hobby Lobby and it has been very good to work with.

Legacy (from Joann's), Kaufman and Southern Belle are all premium and all are great. The 200 ct fabric is very nice.

i purchase my muslins from 'fabric.com' they have a variety of muslins to choose from -- good prices, free shipping at $35 & great customer service...i've been very happy with all of the muslins.

JoAnn's sells Kaufman's Kona muslin, the same Kona muslin that you'll find in a quilt store for more $$.

i've used both Legacy and Kaufman's from joanns. I've been very satisfied with both.

Joanns sells kona cotton but it is not Kaufman. There has been a lot of discussion about this lately on this forum.

Personally I'm partial to Moda muslin. A couple of years ago, Hancock's of Paducah had a big sale & I got two bolts of it. I love it!

With this information, I should be able to find some good muslin. Thanks so much for your help!

I use Southern Bell Creamy muslin from my LQS and made a whole quilt. It is great and washes great as well. The price was also great.

I buy Moda muslin by the bolt at Hancocks of Paducah. They give a quantity discount for large amounts ofbthe same fabric. i think a olt is 15 yards. I also buy Kona black and Snow by the bolt. I always wait for a free shipping code.

I also vote for Southern belle! I have found less shrinkage with this one than with the MODA ones.

You could use white on white or off white on off white for a premium quality background, that's what I will someday do when I make mine...

I buy my premium muslin that I use for hand embroidery from Bird Brain Designs. The fabric is gorgeous and feels so super soft.

I received a personal e-mail from a former shop owner and long arm quilter named Barbara that I cannot get to to open and reply to about where I get my muslin. If you read this I buy directly from Moda/United Notions when I get my 200 count muslin in various widths. You can e-mail me direct at my shop [email protected] if you need any other information. Thanks
