Presser Foot Identification

After a little searching, I have not found a match to help identify this foot. Does anyone happen to know what it is called and what it was made for?

That looks like a zipper foot. You move it to have the needle to the right or left as the foot sits close to the zipper

It is an adjustable zipper foot. I have seen adjustable zipper feet that one can sew with the needle on either side of the foot or the middle. http://sewing-machines.blogspot.com/...pper-foot.html and https://www.ecrater.com/p/23544215/l...able-wide-body I think J Miller had one, but couldn't find it.

I have not seen one that could be used with the quilting bar guide like yours, until I found one this morning that I think some of the pictures have it put together wrong and has the guide attached in a different position .https://www.ecrater.com/p/23544215/l...able-wide-body The quilting bar guide would go through the U-shaped part and then tighten the screw (the screw facing you when the foot is attached) at the position that you want.

I agree with the others - It is clearly multi purpose (imho) foot. The indents on the sides and ability to slide back and forth clearly make it a zipper foot. The U shaped bracket for the screw/clamp, my guess, has two holes in it for the "guide" to slide into and the clamp would apply pressure on it and hold it in place. Here is a site that has a pic of a similar one with the guide (the picture is about 2/3 of the way down the page). It appears to have come with a used White machine.

Cool find! now all you need to do is find a guide that will fit it!!

Thank you for your replies, cjsews and OurWorkbench, and thanks for the links. The foot with the consistent gap in the middle, instead of the wide-to-narrow gap of this one, looks extremely similar.

My first guess was that this foot was a 2-in-1 combination hinged-adjustable-two-sided-zipper foot/ single-hole-straight stitch foot. Please see a photo with a single-hole-straight-stitch foot on the left, then this foot, an adjustable zipper foot, an adjustable-hinged-narrow-zipper-foot and a one-sided zipper foot.

Your guide observation was very helpful. It seems like this foot may take two guides, the seam guide plus a hem guide. Please see the rest of the photos.

This foot is from a set of vintage low-shank feet that the seller told me came with her vintage Elna. The set came with a few guides. I bought the set for a vintage Kenmore 385.

Betty, good eye! That seems to be it. Thank you for looking for it!

The third picture looks like the ones I have. Zipper foot for sure.
