I have seen a couple of posts that say they press a quilt after it is finished and washed before giving it to anyone.
I wonder how many do this?

I think it depends on what look you prefer. I like to press mine to get the puckers out. Others prefer that puckered look.

I do it both ways.... sometimes (most time), I leave it puckered, but just recently, I pressed the quilt after washing it. It just spoke to me that it needed it.

I don't. When it's washed it will get the puckered look and I don't want the person who gets it to think they ruined it. Unless it's intended to be a wall hanging then I may.

I like to have it pressed in order to quilt it. You don't want to stitch the wrinkles in. After its quilted and bound I then wash it to get all those wrinkles back in. I prewash fabric there fore there aren't many wrinkles after its washed. If you like the wrinkled shabby sheik then don't wash any fabric before making the quilt.

I figure it's just going to get wrinkled when I use it! :)

I press to make sure it looks nice and ironed. I don't like to give a wrinkled up quilt. I always wash and iron baby quilts when I am finished and before it is delivered to the recipient.

Ditto - I wash - then look for oops - like missed seams or places where the thread is loose - then I usually press so it doesn't look like I wadded it up...

i press my quilt top when it is all put together- before quilting-
i ALWAYS wash every quilt when the binding is done- that way if anything at all happens (a loose seam, a color run, a snag, a pucker, a hole---anything---i am the one to find it and fix it. i would never want to give someone a quilt and have them wash it first- if anything happened they would be devestated- stressed out- hurt- any number of things.
