I am working on a quilt with seams that just won't stay flat. I remember seeing a comment from someone about a block of wood used after pressing with an iron that you would place over the heated seam and it would lay flat. She also included instructions to make your own. Please help me! Is there a name for this block?

You'd be amazed how flat seams are when you use a clapper. Many in my guild laughed when I was the only one to buy one from a visiting vendor. They thought I wasted my money. Now I'm the one smiling over my flat seams.

that is an interesting looking tool! I have never heard of such a thing. Man I learn something new everyday around here. That sure would have come in handy on my denim quilt.

I keep a small dish of water on my ironing board, I dip my fingertip in and put a drop on the stubborn seam or intersection and then press. Another member gave this tip and it works very well :D:D:D

If you have an old sad iron or cast iron bacon press those would work. The solid metal will draw the heat away fast like wood.
