Am I the only one still working on a quilt that is meant to be given on Christmas day?? I'm making a throw quilt for my brother and sister-in-law with photo's from their wedding. Keeping my fingers crossed.

craftybear 12-23-2010 12:41 PM

I hope you get it done in time, good luck

lindyline 12-23-2010 12:42 PM

Maybe, but I've got one to finish for the 29th, and all I have so far is a 28"square.Good luck with the finishing of yours.

I'm working on making some coasters for the other Pastoral Staff at our church. Everyone gave my husband a gift but we had nothing. So I have to make 7 sets of coasters and I am at work. I won't get home until after 5. So wish me luck!!!!

You are not alone! I am finishing up for my wonderful DMIL. But I am on the last side of binding. So all I have left is the one side to be hand stitched to the back, the label and washing it.

vjengels 12-23-2010 12:50 PM

Oh, yes, I have a Woven Ribbons top I placed in the drawer about 3 weeks ago, it's for my sister for Christmas.... I have plenty of time, right?

Quilter7x 12-23-2010 12:57 PM

You're not alone. I was working on one for my mom but decided I couldn't finish it on time, so I put it aside for another time. I started it many years ago and she doesn't know about it. I have to say that it took a lot of stress out of me to decide I couldn't finish it.

If you must give it for Christmas, but aren't able to fnish it, take a picture of part of it and put that in a card telling them they will have it in a week or so. The last thing you want to is rush through getting it finished just because of the date on the calendar.

Izaquilter 12-23-2010 12:58 PM

no quilts to finish by Christmas but lots & lots of baking to do!

gale 12-23-2010 01:21 PM

I'm working on a pillow that may or may not be for Christmas. I don't have to have it done until the day after though, so I have all of Christmas afternoon/night to work on it.

thequiltmama 12-23-2010 01:26 PM

many many times.I feel your stress.

hannajo 12-23-2010 01:33 PM

I'm sure many of us will be burning the midnight oil for the next few nights.

humbird 12-23-2010 01:35 PM

I went to the bank this morning to finish my Christmas shopping. ALL DONE. No sewing, no baking, no wrapping. I do have some yarn that I might do up a little scarf, but that can be done while relaxing, and dosen't have to be done for Christmas. I did a couple baskets of goodies for the neighbor's, and sent homemade jelly's to the dialysis staff. I never stress about Christmas!

Hoping you all have a Merry Christmas with family and friends.

Take deep breaths, and remember, you can wrap them up unfinished and then complete them later :D:D:D

Me, me, me!!!! I started a quilt for my step son on Tuesday nite :XD:   what was I thinking? I have to put the top and bottom borders on and "HOPEFULLY" piece together the back tonite after work. I'm pretty sure it won't be quilted by Saturday but at least he can see what it will be and I'll promise him to have it done within 2 weeks. I also have a set of placemats and coasters to finish before Saturday. I have both my fingers and ankles crossed hoping to accomplish this. Also told DD I would have car/quilt backpack made for DGS for his birthday (1/6)!!!! I truly must be out of my mind

maryb119 12-23-2010 03:05 PM

I have given gifts with pins in it and a promise to finish it after Christmas.

I imagine that's a difficult position to quilt in...

RkayD 12-23-2010 05:52 PM

I gave up a few weeks back when I realized I had way more to do than time to get them done...everyone understands...all I'm giving homemade gifs to know how I sew in spurts. =)

Boscobd 12-23-2010 08:28 PM

I'm sending good quilting vibes your way for you to finish it in time! I just finished a quilt for my DH around noon today (the 23rd) that I started on Sunday (the 19th). It was touch-n-go, but I got it done.

I'm working on a rag quilt for my DGD. It's sewn together but it's cutting the edges that's taking much more time than I ever anticipated!!Guess who's going to have sore fingers for the Christmas Eve service at church tonight?!

Janlee43 12-24-2010 05:43 AM

I just finished my son's quilt last night. Made a quilt for my grown children this year. Will get pictures tonight with their quilts and post. Merry Christmas to all.

matraina 12-24-2010 07:03 AM

Does this count - I'm still working on a throw for a wedding reception 12/28. I haven't even started the matching pillow.

Scakes 12-24-2010 07:19 AM

I had a couple I wanted to make for Christmas but life got in the way. They will be finished and given as birthday gifts in Feb and Mar. I hope. :)

tutty 12-24-2010 08:18 AM

Could you mail or e-mail a photo of the promise of soon?

I gave a quilt to my SIL tonight...had to bring it home so I could put the binding on!!! The other two quilts I gave as gifts tonight did get finished though!!!

quilter in the making 12-24-2010 10:36 PM

I gave my daughter a quilt for her birthday in October and my daughter-in-law saw it and said she wished I'd make her one, so I decided to make her a quilt for Christmas and figured I might as well make a quilt for my youngest son's girlfriend. DIL's quilt is embroidered owls and gf's is embroidered Little Mermaid. I finished one yesterday afternoon and the other this afternoon, just in time to wash and dry it and get it wrapped. I've told hubby to remind me next year that there will be no starting new projects after December 1st and that the tree will go up Thanksgiving weekend and be totally decorated that weekend. I let too much go to the end this year. Very disorganized. I hope you got yours done.

Tudey 12-24-2010 11:05 PM

Isn't it awfully hard to sew with your fingers crossed?

Annz 12-26-2010 05:21 PM

That will be a great gift whether late or on time.
