Pretend you're going to a ginormous fabric store far away...

Do you have "go to" fabrics that you always stock up on? What are they?

TONALS. Never can have enough of them. My LQS is closing and that is most of what I bought.

neutrals or tonals

Batiks, especially light batiks, neutral batiks. I also stock up on layer cakes of batiks. A great way to add new colors.

Batiks, Batiks, Batiks. I just love them. Beyond that neutral and TOT is always good because I never seem to have enough of them. It' easy to buy the beautiful focal fabrics. Then when it's time to choose fabrics for a project, I end up back at the LQS to fill in the neutrals and other prints needed to make the quilt. Joyce in Delaware

I look for good deals on backings. Also, I'm always on the lookout for B/W fabrics. Other than that, whatever catches my fancy. And I'm usually always sorry about the ones I left behind. :)

Tonals, tonals, tonals. They are timeless, whereas my prints are trendy. I never buy anything but tonals and other blenders anymore.

Solids, tonals, blenders, small pattern batiks and small print cottons...pretty much anything and everything that reads as solid from a distance but makes you come in close to get a better look at the details. Gotcha!! :)

Polka Dots! I love polka dots. (Big prints, Little prints, tone on tone, polka dots and white or vice versa.) They also make great blenders.

And, light prints. MY stash is woeful on prints that read LIGHT. I have tons of medium prints.

And lastly, White on white. I use it in everything. I try to buy yardage whenever I can.

I always make the same mistake -- stock up on beautiful focal fabrics. Then when it't time to use one, I haven't got the coordinates. You'd think I'd learn from my mistakes. I do need more neutrals and blenders.
