Thank you for all of your input. The fabric is from Marcus, so I hoped it would not bleed. I have soaked it all day, and the water is now fairly clear. I will soak it overnight and hope for the best. I have tossed red batiks that refused to stop bleeding, but I am really hoping this fabric cooperates! :)

This is what I was going to suggest.

When I get a bleeder, I put it in plenty of water at 140° and let it sit overnight. This works every time.

It hasn't for me.

There is a difference between a fabric that has excess dye - and a bleeder.The ones with only excess dye DO eventually quit coloring the water. The bleeders - NEVER stop coloring the water.

Well, after an overnight soak, that started with very hot water, the water was still lightly colored. Booooo! So I grabbed a different piece of red fabric, tossed it in the tub with hot water....and it is bleeding too! Geesh. I kind of expect this with batiks, but not LQS fabrics. Because this is going to be a white and red Christmas project, I broke down and just ordered some Retayne. Let's hope that works! Or it's on to plan C! Which has not yet been formulated!!! :}
