Those of you that have "fabric stashes" do you prewash all of your fabric as soon as you bring it home or do you store it and wait until you figure out what project you are going to use it on before you prewash?

if you put Prewashing in the search feature you will get many different opinoins.

I prewash all of my fabrics before it goes into stash storage. Sometimes if I purchase material just for stash, don't have enough for a load and don;t need to use right away, I'll put it aside in my "need-to-wash" fabric pile, and once I buy more I wash them together (like-colors). This way, all of my fabrics are ready to be used.

I know many people don't pre-wash their fabrics, it is more of a personal preference.

No prewashing here!

Only if I think its going to shrink or bleed alot.

When I fabric shop, as soon as I get home I set the new fabric on the washing machine. Doesn't even get to my sewing room until it's washed.

I do sometimes...

Flannel, I *always* pre-wash.

If I'm using different types of fabric together, I usually pre-wash, but definitely wash the fabrics I know will shrink if I'm using fabric that generally doesn't, i.e cotton and fleece.

If it's likely to bleed, I wash.

If I'm feeling particularly lazy or it doesn't fit one of the above scenarios... I don't.

I wash everthing. The unwashed have chemicals in them that make me sneeze and my eyes water.
