When I purchased my second Brother PE 770 embroidery machine, the shop tossed in a case of embroidery thread and pre-wound bobbins. I love them and use them on my sewing machines all the time.

Same problem here.

I use pre-wound NEB bobbins for my embroidery projects and then use the empty NEB bobbins for when I need just a little of one color for a project. Saves my good machine bobbins for larger projects. Plus I can use the NEB bobbins in both my Viking D1 and my Babylock Ellegante machines. Probably could use them in my new to me Brother XR3140 if I get the little insert pin that goes into the bobbin case to bring the bobbin up a little. Haven't tried the pre-wounds for the quilt machine as my bobbin winder works get for me plus winds my "L" bobbins too..........excluding the green Viking bobbins.

this source of prewound cotton class 15/A is new to me.
my first source is still rebuilding after a fire. i get the Clear-Quilt. the per-bobbin price is less than i have seen some dealers charge for empty brand-name bobbins. the bobbins are re-usable, too. http://www.allthreads.com/Prewound_B...FccYHwodYscFTg |
I have been using per-wound bobbins for years. I find them great time savers. I order mine through Amazon.

Quilting Lady, you are right, I misspoke (typed). It was my older Ellageo that used the L bobbins. However, I also used the L prewounds in my old Janome 9000 with no problem. Then when I got a new Sofia, it used a 15 and my newer Esante uses the 15 and my Brother uses the 15, so - well, it is hard to keep up.!
=QuiltnLady1;7436972]Rennie -- my Janomes all usethe Class 15 or A bobbin. The L's are just a little shorter -- the 1600p is the only Janome that uses the L. The Innovas use the M. I use prewound bobbins most of the time for piecing -- I just make sure to get the 15/A's. I have heard of some Janome owners using the L's with the magic genie washers, but I have not tried it. I usually wind my own bobbins when machine quilting since I like the thread to match if it pulls up. [/QUOTE] |
I love prewound bobbins and use the Superior Thread ones. Great thread and so much on each bobbin!
|
I purchase them at Hobby Lobby when notions are 50% off. They work well in my Janome and Singer machines. But sometimes they are so full I have trouble finding the start of the thread.
|
The only prewound bobbins I've used are for embroidery. If there are some in the right weight for quilting that would be nice.

The Husquavarnaviking store located in Joanns sells the embroidery ones. I have had good luck with them
