Printing on fabric

Hello,
I am starting a new quilt project and I want to print my own fabric panel. I have an Epson Workforce 520 printer. I want to buy a new printer but not sure what to buy. Any suggestions?

What type of fabric are you using? Are you planning to do sublimation printing? If so, you will need a high percentage, polyester blend fabric and a printer that takes sublimation inks. I've used an Epsom for this before, but I wasn't crazy about the printer. It was very temperamental.

You might also want to check out Spoonflower, http://www.spoonflower.com/welcome . they do individual printing projects on fabric. I haven't tried them yet myself, but others on the QB have and they had good results with them.

If you're buying fabric sheets set up for printing,, You'll want to know how the ink is set before buying any prepared fabric. I bought some that had to be dry cleaned to keep the printing from fading.

I think for the best results you want Pigment ink cartridges. I'm pretty sure Epson is the one that has those. So look at the cartridges before you select a printer if that is what you are looking to do with it.
