I would try using Retayne to set the colors of the ink. follow the directions on the bottle

I am sorry the other block wasn't successful (((HUGS)))

Make sure you read the instructions...some require you to wash in cold water after printing and letting the ink dry, some require you to iron it to heat set it...and also, I've had better success with a brand called Printed Treasures, but Joann's doesn't carry it. Good luck.

Make sure you use the kind that can be washed. There is a packet that is only to be dry cleaned. Guess how I know that!!!

I have had good luck with Printed Treasures also. In fact, I think a group at Quilters' Home magazine voted it the best. It isn't inexpensive, but I've never had a problem with it. I use it a lot for quilt labels. I usually use the sew-on type which you could use for a block. I let the ink dry and then iron the back of the printed sheet with a paper towel between the sheet and the ironing board and a paper towel between the sheet and the iron. I think JoAnns sells that as well as their own. If yours doesn't, then try "Soft Expressions" online store. They have it. Good luck. Verna in So CA

This is why I use the iron on method - I made a HUGE quilt with about 125 pictures on it using the "print on fabric" method- washed it - the pictures all came off!!!! I had to redo using iron on transfer. If you choose to use the "iron on method", remember to reverse the photos as they need to be "backwards" when you turn them over and iron on.
GOOD LUCK!!
