Has anyone entered their quilt at a county fair or other event and won a prize? I would love to see your award winning quilt!!! Is it hard to follow all the rules and regulations??

I live in Comal Co just North of San Antonio. They have an annual fair that is very popular. I entered a paper pieced
wall hanging and got a third place ribbon. I don't have a picture of it but believe me it isn't anything special. As I walked around the fair looking at all the entries in all of the various catagories I realized that you only had to have a heartbeat to win third place:)

I do know that each fair has a set of their rules for entries in the various catagories and you should read them to get the information for yours. The Comal Co rules weren't too difficult. I'm sure most fairs don't award ribbons quiet so freely.

Never even thought they had any chance of winning anything due to the number of talented quilters that had entered into the show. The rules weren't hard to follow. There are so many different categories that your quilt is bound to fit into one of them.

No, I haven't entered my quilts, I am too new.

However, I went to a Guild Show last October and won their grand prize quilt. It is beautiful! It was machine appliqued and designed by the quilters.

They are entering it in the Vermont Festival in June. Hopefully, after that I can show pictures. I wouldn't want to do anything to ruin their chances by posting it now!

It was appraised at $1875.00!!! :) :)

I won Viewers Choice at our LQS three years ago.

I can see why. Very nice.

This was my first blue ribbon. My husband surprised me for Christmas and bought me my first kit about 5 years ago. Had never done a lone star before and this was my first attempt at hand binding. Plenty of ripping (and swearing) went on during the process. :)

I think the quilt came out at about 80X80.

That is beautiful!! I have always wanted to try making one of these. Did you piece it from diamonds? HSTs? Strip pieced? Did you use the printed interfacing? This looks difficult, however you pieced it.

Thank you....it was pieced using the strip method. I think Jinny Beyer still has this pattern free on her site. Her directions are really good. You just need to make sure all of your seams are 1/4 inch or else you can go wrong very easily.
