Problem Burying Threads

I am following directions learned on youtube video for burying threads when FMQ where you tie a square knot, pull both threads thru about an inch away pulling thread thru popping the knot down into the hole. Well, my problem is my knot is so small it doesn't make enough bump for me to feel if it pops down into the hole or is still sitting on top. Should I tie a double square knot, or what do you suggest?

I just do a simple square knot and try to put the needle point in the same hole next to where the thread ended. I run the needle through the sandwich about 1/2 inch, take the needle off the threads and give them a quick tug. I make sure the knot is through the hole, smooth the entry point with my finger nail to prevent the knot from coming back out, cut the extra thread off.

I don't bury threads. I just stitch back and forth a few stitches and cut off the excess.

I do what Tartan does. For me, I can usually hear the "pop" when it goes through...otherwise I check with my fingernail.
