Problem with Janome 8050

I got this machine about a month ago and love it but I have a problem with the feed sometimes. I'll be sewing along and all of a sudden I'll notice it's not feeding the fabric like it was and my stitches are coming out really small. If I turn off the machine and turn it back on it resets and it's fine after that but i have to reset my stitch length etc and it's a pain in the butt. Is this machine defective or it it something I'm doing?

I no longer have the box of course... I got it at Hancock's but I can buy a new one and return this one if I need to. Please Help!

To me, it sounds like a problem with the machine.

just a warning about the box issue... some items have bar codes that match the box with the original product... probably to protect the seller/manufacturer from situations you are describing.

I would first change the thread. It seems that the new machines only like the high quality thread *like aurifil*, or first make sure the top thread is exactly the same as the bobbin thread. If that doesn't work, bring the machine back. If you charged it, you can get a copy of the bill. My new Viking 875Q is so picky about thread, but my 11 years old Janome 10000 will use anything.

ok i'll try that with the thread! I was using different bobbin thread so that might be it. Oh and I was using coats and clark polyester so that could be it too! thanks! Also glad you mentioned that about the box... I didn't know that. I'd hate to get stuck with an extra machine I don't need. I wish I kept the box.

I found the box!!! I went to Hancocks and they exchanged it for a new machine without a receipt! That's good service! I hope this one works better for me. Cross your fingers! It's factory sealed so it should be good....

If I have a copy of my CC bill can I return this? I exchanged it and got another that is doing the same thing. I will try the aurifil thread but if that doesn't work I need to just get my $ back. Will they credit my account with just the charge bill?

Ok I cleaned out the bobbin and feed dogs and that has seemed to help alot. Im also using Superior so fine thread and that's helping too. I'm sewing along all happy tonight and then all of a sudden the machine gets stuck in reverse again. I was tacking the end before I started and then it wouldn't go forward until I turned off the machine and turned it back on. What the heck is going on? Could I have gotten 2 lemons or is this something I'm doing?
